"Rachel May arrives home at last" March 2006

  • It was fall 2005 when baby Rachel May was born weighing less than two pounds and only 13 inches long - barely bigger than a 20-ounce soft drink bottle. At only 27 weeks pregnant, the medical staff at a hospital in Kentucky determined Rachel's only chance at survival was to be born immediately. Twenty minutes and one c-section later Rachel was rushed to the intensive care nursery to begin her long journey to survival. GSRD product the "Little Helper" aided in getting Rachel through 100 days in the hospital, 15 blood transfusions and months of struggling. Now at almost four years old, Rachel is a healthy and vibrant young girl.
  • Dear Mr. Beneke,
Thank you so much for sending me the stand for my g-tube. Mommy and Daddy don't know what they would have done without it. I went to the Dr. yesterday and will only have it for 3 more weeks. They are going to put in a "button". I am growing fast now that I am home. I weigh 7 pounds and I am 4 months old now. I thought that you would like to read an article about me that was in our local paper. Thank you again for helping us out. I am going to put my name and birthday on it and donate it back to the NICU when I am done with it...
    Thank you!
    Rachel May Kircher
